Corrective Body Therapy
Our specialists use a combination
of very special body work techniques that include
Massage Therapy, Neuro Muscular Therapy or NMT,
Trigger Point Therapy, Myo Facial Release Therapy
and Active Release Technique or ART to give you the
right kind of therapy your body needs to help you
feel your best.
Massage Therapy improves circulation by bringing
oxygen and other nutrients to body tissues through
therapists' use of long, smooth strokes, kneading
and other movements focused on superficial layers of
muscle. It relieves muscle tension and pain,
increases flexibility and mobility, and helps clear
lactic acid and other waste, which reduces pain and
stiffness in muscles and joints.
Neuro Muscular Therapy
Neuro Muscular Therapy (NMT) is a thorough program
that aids in corrective recovery from acute and chronic pain
syndromes which utilizes specific massage therapy
and flexibility stretching, to eliminate the causes
of most neuromuscular pain patterns. This specific
and scientific approach to muscular pain relief will
help to bring about balance between the
musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT
enhances the function of joints, muscles and
biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins,
the body's own natural pain killers.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is a corrective bodywork technique that
involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle
tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in
other parts of the body. Trigger points are
hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are
associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of
muscle fibers. Palpable nodules are small
contraction knots and are a common cause of pain.
Trigger point therapy is also called myofascial
trigger point therapy.
Active Release Technique or ARTŪ
is a patented, state of the art soft tissue
system/movement based massage technique that treats
problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia
and nerves. The goal of ARTŪ is to restore optimal
texture, motion, and function of the soft tissue and
release any entrapped nerves or blood vessels. This
is accomplished through the removal of adhesions or
fibrosis in the soft tissues via the application of
specific protocols. Adhesions can occur as a result
of acute injury, repetitive motion , and constant
pressure or tension. ARTŪ eliminates the pain and
dysfunction associated with these adhesions.
Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin
splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis,
knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of
the many conditions that can be resolved through
ART. Acute conditions such as pulls, tears,
collisions, accumulation of small tears or
micro-traumas or hypoxia a condition where muscles
are not getting enough oxygen can all be factors
that can cause your body to produce tough, dense
scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue
binds up and ties down tissues that need to move
freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become
shorter and weaker, tension on tendons cause
tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can
cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and
pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel
tingling, numbness, and weakness.
Every body therapy session is a combination of
examination and treatment. Our specialists use their
hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and
movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and
nerves to give you the right therapy you need. |
